"Kids Eat Right with Naturel Bento" Workshop

Last Tuesday, I've a chance to attend a great and fun "Kids Eat Right with Naturel Bento" Workshop at the Bayan Indah The Culinary Retreat.

I manage to meet up with some of my blogger buddies- Chanel, Anggie and Alice at this workshop.
The workshop started with a warm welcome and introduction by Ms. Tania Lee, Brand Manager for Naturel.  Then, an hour talk by Indra Balaratnam, a Consultant Dietitian. According to Indra, the key to eating right is to practice balance, moderation and variety. Indra who has more than 16 years experience in dietary counseling said that portion size of different food groups is a key point note in children's nutrition.
During the interactive session, Indra highlighted the well-known challenge that mothers face in getting their children to eat their vegetables. I'm interested with the idea that we should try serving different types of vegetables, as there are a big variety of vegetables in different colours to choose from. She also shared some strategies to overcome picky eating issues such as making it fun, doing it casually, avoiding conflict, starting small and sneaking it in.
Then, the session was led by food consultant and founder of Bayan Indah, Rohani Jelani. She has more that 20 years of experience writing recipes for publications and teaching cooking classes.
During the hands-on bento making session, Rohani shared Bento-making has become very popular for mothers who want to make their home-cooked food more appealing to their children. She has designed some creative but simple recipes for mothers to help our children eat right through a healthy and balanced meal. The food prepared using Naturel oils do not lose its taste or texture even when kept refrigerated for a few days. This makes it ideal to help mothers prepare hassle-free bentos.
During the workshop. I was partnered with Anggie in Group Two. We had fun and did well as a team.
For the following two hours of bento box lunch preparation session in the kitchen, we need to prepared 2 dishes, they are Rainbow cake and

Pasta bows with baked chicken and tofu patties.
After the cooking session, we have a group photo and a great lunch prepared by Rohani.
At the end of the workshop, we been given goodies bags from Naturel and Rubbermaid!

Naturel is made from 100% pure and natural ingredients. Naturel Blend cooking oil is an original blend of Canola and Sunflower oils. It contains Omega 3 and 6 that are essential to the well-being of our body. It is also cholesterol free and naturally rich in vitamin E.

Naturel is a brand name synonymous with natural goodness and quality. Naturel's strength as the preferred cooking oil in a healthy diet can be attributed to Lam Soon's uncompromising standards in manufacturing high quality cooking oil.  Naturel Blend is currently Malaysia's number 1 soft oil.

With Rubbermaid "Easy Find Lids System", organizing your kitchen just got easier. Featuring lids that snap together and snap to the bottom of the container it fits, this food storage system ensures that the right lid is always at your fingertips.
Graduated sized containers nest to take up less room in your cupboard, and its square shape takes up less room in your refrigerator.
The choice of a healthier lifestyle is in our hands. We need to adopt a healthy cooking style with the right cooking oil when preparing our daily meals.  Let's Eat Right, Keep Fit and Beat Stress!
